We are saying goodbye to Overwatch

Yes, that indeed is some sad news. After long talks with Activision-Blizzard, the publisher and developer of Overwatch, we decided to lay low with our Overwatch tournament. The reason for this is simple: Blizzard does not want us to host Overwatch tournaments on an international scale. How frustrating and sad this might be for all of us, it’s very understandable. It’s now up to us to look for new, fun and exciting ways to hold on to the City League concept and move on with a new game.

From Overwatch…

Since this game can’t be Overwatch anymore, we are also looking for new teams and venues who want to join us for season 1. We are also trying to work with the amazing venues, teams and players that are already involved to find a suitable solution. If you have any ideas regarding season 1, or if you have any comment in general: find us on Twitter or Discord.

… to League of Legends?

While League of Legends seems like an easy solution, it really is not. Nothing is certain yet. We are working hard behind the screens to come up with new ideas to keep the concept flowing. We have been talking to League of Legends developer Riot Games, and they seem really excited for the concept. Any updates on the future of City League will be pushed to you on this website and on our socials.

We want to thank everyone that participated in preseason again. We could not have done this without you! That’s quite the cliché, but it’s so damn true <3
